Course: The Search for Extraterrestrial Life

Sterrenwacht Copernicus is launching a new course: The Search for Extraterrestrial Life.

Over four lessons we explore the basics of biological life, the potential for water in our solar system, and the hunt for exoplanets and technosignatures. We conclude with the Fermi paradox: if the chance of life is so great, why haven't we heard from anyone yet?

4 lessons

The course consists of 4 theory lessons.

• Lesson 1: Life on Earth
• Lesson 2: Water and Ice
• Lesson 3: Exoplanets and intelligent life
• Lesson 4: The Fermi paradox and strange life

Practical Information

• Location: Sterrenwacht Copernicus.
• Day and time: Tuesday evenings from 20:00 to 22:00
• Cost: not yet known.

Who is this course for?

This course is intended for the general public with an interest in the search for extraterrestrial life. The course is accessible to people who have previously taken our introductory course, but also to newcomers.

The lessons are less suitable for children. Therefore we maintain a minimum age of 16 years.
