In October 2024 the comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) is visible in the Netherlands! The comet is close to the sun and therefore you cannot see it easily. Only from 12 October is the comet far enough from the sun to be visible, but only very briefly, because then it sets again itself.
Over the following weeks the comet moves ever further from the sun, but also becomes less bright. The best moment to see the comet is probably around 20 October, because after that it is difficult to see the comet with your own eyes.
Here in Overveen there are two Friday evenings on which the comet may be visible. These are Friday 18 and 25 October. If it is clear, we will be outside with many extra telescopes and binoculars to let as many people as possible look at the comet.
